SEO - Your Website's Killer Best Friend

As a savvy and experienced online marketer, you know that the big goal is to get your website’s traffic to become life-long and devoted clients, which is why you put your all into your products and website. From flashy graphics to a website layout that would make even the most celebrated copywriter envious, you know that appearance is everything – especially when it comes to finicky online traffic!

Yet every marketer – even the great ones – have struggled with how to get the pre-qualified traffic to their websites. You know what I’m talking about: potential clients who are in need of your exact product and are more inclined to purchase from you than just a regular online surfer. It’s every marketer’s dream to get a stampeding horde of pre-qualified traffic with stuffed wallets.

But how to you get these hungry crowds to find you, especially when there’s junk that’s preventing your website from standing out?

The answer is simpler than you think: search engine optimization!

If you've been around the internet marketing block for a few months- or even years! – then you’ve probably heard of search engine optimization, or SEO, before. Here’s the secret: if you’re not using SEO tactics on your website’s content right now, then you might as well get comfortable with being on the last page of every search engine, because that’s exactly where you are now!

In layman’s terms, search engine optimization involves writing website content following a keyword-density formula. Search engines like Google and Yahoo have devices known as search engine spiders, which crawl around the internet looking for content that’s original, fresh and above all, keyword-optimized. These search engine spiders know junk when they see it: if your website is lacking in its keyword-density or has too many keywords altogether, those spiders will waste no time in chucking your site to the very end of the search engine line.

You know those words that you type into search engines when you're looking for something? Those are known as keywords, and if you use them correctly, they can work wonders for your marketing empire. You see, when potential clients are looking for specific information on any topic, they’ll type in these keywords and see what pops up. Say that a potential client is looking for natural remedies for dry skin; wouldn’t it stand to reason that your potential client typed in “natural remedies for dry skin”? Those, my friend, are the moneymaking keywords.

The first page is where you want your website to be, since many online surfers only stick to the results that they find on Page One. Why is that? Simple: the average surfer is so inundated with information that he or she usually sticks to the first couple of websites that pop up in the natural results!

Search engine optimization is a bit like playing a psychic. In order to get your website to rank on that coveted first page, you need to get into the minds of your potential clients and predict what keywords they'll be using to find your product. If you want to skip the psychic activity altogether and get the lowdown on what your potential clients are typing in when searching for your website, try Google Adwords, which is a free tool that you can use to see popular keywords for various marketing niches.

However, the important thing about SEO is that you cannot fill your website content with too many keywords, or else you'll risk having your website chewed up by the search engine spiders! Instead, you are better off keeping your keyword density at a healthy level - many SEO experts suggest less than five percent, with some even going as low as 2-3%. That means that if you have a 500-word article on your web page, then you want to make sure that your keyword appears between five to seven times. Stick to this formula, and you officially have optimized content. See how easy search engine optimization can be!

When using search engine optimization, just make sure that your content is fresh and original, since search engine spiders don’t take kindly to duplicate content. Additionally, keep updating your website to rank higher and higher on the natural results page. Pretty soon, you’ll see your website shoot to the number one spot – and you’ll get those stampeding hordes of customers that you’ve always dreamed about!

Get More Links With An Article Directory

Most people who build a website eventually figure out that the only way to make anything, no matter how cool your site is, no matter how great the content is – is that traffic is king. Without anyone seeing the product you are offering for sale, there is no point even trying. Think of it this way, lets say you invented the next great widget – you know it will really sell and everyone you have shown it to agrees that it’s the best. If you advertise in the desert, it does not matter because no one sees it. If you spend your advertsing dollars in a busy city, you will have success because everyone sees it. The difference is traffic. Article directories are like a gateway to the city from the desert.

Submitting your original content to an article directory is very easy, but first you need to do the keyword research. While this may seem slow and boring (or even a pain), it really has to be done to get decent results from your work. Keywords are used in the article, and in the link back to your site from the article directory. The search engines use the keywords that link to your site as part of the analysis for the ranking formula. The reason you need to do research is there is a fine balance between useless (as in never used search terms), and super competitive ones where it will be too hard initially to try to get ranking for. So when you submit your articles to an article directory, you want the keywords to have decent search volume, but not massive so you can get the most bang for your time.

Your article will be displayed with thousands of others in the article directory. Users needing content for their sites come to article directories and then grab content to fill in their site. Additionally, people subscribe to the RSS feeds from article directories that have them to get fresh content via RSS when it is published. Sometimes an article directory is also considered an authority by Google and others, thereby getting a link coming from that site garners more weight than from other links that do not have this authority.

How these SEO Techniques Can Build your SEO Empire

Some SEO Techniques everybody should be using. They are common SEO techniques but ones that a lot of people ignore.

Commit yourself to the process. SEO isn’t a one-time event. Search engine algorithms change regularly, so the tactics that worked last year may not work this year. SEO requires a long-term outlook and commitment.

Be patient. SEO isn’t about instant gratification. Results often take months to see, and this is especially true the smaller you are, and the newer you are to doing business online.

Ask a lot of questions when hiring an SEO company. It’s your job to know what kind of tactics the company uses. Ask for specifics. Ask if there are any risks involved. Then get online yourself and do your own research—about the company, about the tactics they discussed, and so forth.

Become a student of SEO. If you’re taking the do-it-yourself route, you’ll have to become a student of SEO and learn as much as you can. Luckily for you, there are plenty of great Web resources and several terrific books you can read.

Have web analytics in place at the start. You should have clearly defined goals for your SEO efforts, and you’ll need web analytics software in place so you can track what’s working and what’s not.

Use a unique and relevant title and meta description on every page. The page title is the single most important on-page SEO factor. It’s rare to rank highly for a primary term (2-3 words) without that term being part of the page title. The meta description tag won’t help you rank, but it will often appear as the text snippet below your listing, so it should include the relevant keyword(s) and be written so as to encourage searchers to click on your listing. Related bonus tip: You can ignore the Keywords meta altogether if you’d like; it’s close to inconsequential. If you use it, put misspellings in there, and any related keywords that don’t appear on the page.

Write for users first. Google, Yahoo, etc., have pretty powerful bots crawling the web, but to my knowledge these bots have never bought anything online, signed up for a newsletter, or picked up the phone to call about your services.

Humans do those things, so write your page copy with humans in mind. Yes, you need keywords in the text, but don’t stuff each page like a Thanksgiving turkey. Keep it readable.

Create great, unique content. This is important for everyone, but it’s a particular challenge for online retailers. If you’re selling the same widget that 50 other retailers are selling, and everyone is using the boilerplate descriptions from the manufacturer, this is a great opportunity. Write your own product descriptions, using the keyword research you did earlier to target actual words searchers use, and make product pages that blow the competition away. Plus, retailer or not, great content is a great way to get inbound links.

Employ these seo techniques and you’ll see great results.

Why are search engines so important

Understanding the way Search Engines work, is critical to the success of your internet business. Can you picture a store in the middle of nowhere, and expecting customers to appear at your door?

That is what newbies on the internet ofter do. They are under the mis-conception, that “If they build it, they will come” and so they sit in the wilderness and can’t figure out why only a couple of people stumble into their business.

If you are looking for ways to generate traffic to your websites, then this article is crtitical to your success.

If you will JUST apply the basics of what I teach you in this book, it will take your business to the next level of business and beyond, but let me emphasize, that I do not cover the advanced techniques you will need to make your business explode into the stratosphere. You will need to purchase my Advanced SEO Handbook, or get further education.

I encourage you to get further training in basic Internet Marketing, SEO and traffic generation, whether you become a member of our site:

1. Where we educate you in Optimized Marketing Strategies, Strategic Marketing Planning, and SEO.

2. Where we offer a complete education in every area of running an Internet Marketing as a business

3. where you can specialize in SEO and become Certified as an SEO Specialist.

My first sentence of this article, I said, "it is critical to the success of your internet business, that you understand the way search engines work".

It is the search engines that bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. It is the search engines that provides the equivalence of thousands of signs along the trails to tell people where you are at and how to get there.

When a user enters a topic in their search box, the search engine kicks into gear instantly. The search engine immediately sifts through the millions of web pages, articles, Social media posts, videos, and other miscellaneous pages on the web that have been indexed and returns the data that is the most relevant to the topic the user entered. popularity and relevancy are only second to the relevancy of the returned search data. No one really knows all the variables of the algorithm’s that accomplish this task, there are some basic factors that have become common knowledge to those in the know.

Unless you have been under a rock for the last 10 years, you already know that Google owns the world!! hee hee Hee.. Seriously, Google does control most of the web universe and so it is looked upon as the master, and the Google search engine is the most important to understand, and they set the standards bar for the other search engines to reach.

Understanding Google’s perspective and what they are trying to accomplish, is the key to maximizing the power of the Search Engines and the techniques you use to reach the page rankings that you are after.

Lets cover what Googles main theme is. What are they trying to accomplish/ What is their main objective? In order to provide their users a pleasurable user experience, Google has designed and implemented algorithms to provide their users wiht the most relevant data possible. Their priority is to provide a ecstatic user experience.

Knowing that it only makes sense to concentrate your efforts on SEO techniques that work under all conditions. If you use the same approach you would use to buy a Brooks Brother suit, in your SEO strategy, you will get better long term results. If you do not know what a Brooks brothers suit is, let me explain. When you buy a Brooks Bother’s suit, you know a couple of things:

1. These techniques will never go ut of style

2. It will work for years, even though you might have to adjust it here and there

3. They will never go out of style.

You will see and hear all types of fad SEO techniques, many are called Black hat. Google can penalize you for months, if they discover Black hat techniques, so I advise you not to use them.

Take my advise, and do not ever wear the Black hat. Put on the White hat, be patient, and enjoy your efforts for years to come, without looking over your shoulders.

Your website may as well not even exist, if you are not on the 1st 3 pages of the search engines. It is a critical long term goal to reach page 1 through consistent and persistent effort on your major keywords.

With proper planning, you can reach page 1 on some of your keywords within a month, another set of keywords in 3 months, yet another more popular set of keywords in 6 months, and even if it takes you 2 years to reach page 1 for the most popular keywords, this effort will pay off with rewards beyond your imagination with 10’s, if not 100’s of thousands of Free visitors each and every month.

Now, I will be talking a lot about Google and I want to make sure that you understand that there are 100’s of search engines, but Google is the grand Daddy of them all. There is no other marketing method that can drive more traffic than Google and the other 7 1st tier search engons.

So even though I refer to Google heavily, the way the search engines work and their algorithms are different and your traffic will depend on which search engines the customers use and how they rank your site.

Part 2 will cover the rest….

The Best WordPress Plugins

If you’re one of the millions of WordPress users today, you’re probably thankful for the existence of plugins, those little chunks of code that enhance the functionalities of your blog. These plugins, however, aren’t just there to help you manage your blog. Plugins can improve your visitors’ experience of your site, and some of them are even made specifically to help you make money blogging.

The only drawback about plugins is the fact that there’s so many of them lying around the blogosphere, and not all of them are necessary to the success of your site. But how will you know which plugins are worth installing and which ones are better off left on the shelf? Here’s a list of winning WordPress plugins that can breathe new life into your blog!

1. Akismet A perennial favorite, Akismet is every WordPress blogger’s first line of defense against nefarious comment spam. This plugin effectively blocks bogus comments from infiltrating your comment box and clogging it up, making comment management an easier job for you.

2. All in One SEO Pack This tool raises your capacity to make money blogging by providing you with a whole suite of features that optimize your blog for search engines. The All in One SEO Pack takes the most significant page-ranking factors that affect your site’s search engine rankings, and lets you tweak with them to make your blog shine in search engine results.

3. WordPress 2.3 Related Posts Plugin Definitely a must-have, the WP 2.3 Related Posts Plugin ensures that each of your blog posts comes with a list of links to related posts. If you’re worried that your feed subscribers might not take advantage of this, then you can heave a sigh of relief. This plugin also posts the links of your related posts to your feed.

4. Lucia’s Linky Luv This tool does a great job of managing your comments, and is best known for its “dofollow” function. Essentially, this means that people who comment on your blog are automatically rewarded with backlinks, so that their blogs can benefit from your own sites’ page rank. However, it also enforces a “nofollow” rule on comments that are likely to be spam. Brilliant!

5. cformsII At long last, a plugin that handles all your contact forms for you. cformsII is a neat plugin that lets your readers establish contact with you safely and securely. It boasts of an impressive set of features, and is even shielded against spam.

6. Tell a Friend The Tell a Friend plugin by Social Twist goes beyond the functionalities of your old “Bookmark/Email This!” button. Its scope isn’t limited to social bookmarking sites and e-mail services. Instead, Tell a Friend gives your readers the option to share your posts through instant messaging, your social networks, your own blog, and even through your personal content management system.

7. Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator for WordPress This nifty plugin automatically creates a sitemap of your blog in XML format, which is widely supported among search engines, particularly Google, Ask, and MSN Search. So what’s the big deal about this? When provided with a sitemap that outlines each URL within the blog as well as their corresponding metatags, a search engine spider can crawl through your site better and come up with more relevant search results as far as your blog goes.

If you don’t have these plugins set up in your blog, don’t you think it’s time you installed them? Although a blog that’s managed well can definitely stand on its own, a set of effective plugins can give it an extra push towards larger and more substantial profit.
