AdSense is a very good means of generating a constant revenue on your site. All you need to do is create some quality content and keep it updated constantly and you can literally live off your website. It's also a great program because you can have the same account advertising on all your pages. This is great for webmasters wit a lot of content because it means they don't have to create many accounts unnecessarily.

But as stated, above, there are some negative aspects to advertising with AdSense and here's a small list of such cons.

Clearly the largest negative impact the AdSense program can have on you is through Google closing your accounts. Most of the time this happens because of so called 'click fraud', which means somebody would be producing artificial clicks on your page.

There's one really nasty side to that. It doesn't have to be you making those artificial clicks. It could very well be your competition doing this in order to shut you down, or the competitor of whoever is advertising on your page, looking to drive their marketing costs up.

The earning AdSense brings you are by no means constant. In fact, they're not even close to that. Anything you do to your site could end up being a big mistake costing you a great deal of money. It's that kind of pressure that has a negative impact on you.

First of all, you constantly need to make sure your site is in the spotlight of search engines when people are searching for whatever it is your site is about.

If you fail to do that you won't have any visitors, and that of course means you won't have any AdSense revenue. In a way this is nothing new, as any form of generating revenue on the Internet with advertising has such a drawback.

And finally, another major problem is that you constantly have to feed your site with better and better content. Now, of course, certain sites are very well geared towards doing this but with some types of content this is rather hard to achieve. This is often why the services of a copywriter are employed to generate more and more content.

When writing original content, the best thing a website owner can do is research a topic thoroughly and then return to writing with lots of information they can out in their own words, and show their own opinion on.

So there are the pros and cons of using the AdSense network for generating profits through advertising. Now the choice of whether or not these work for you is yours.

Keyword Density Made Easy

Fundamentally, keyword density is the number of times a targeted keyword is used in the web page content. It's normally expressed as a percentage of all of the words on the page. Keyword density plays a major role in helping the search engines understand what the page is about, otherwise known as relevancy. Your site could be considered spam or artificial if a keyword phrase is used too often causing the search engines to not display it in search results. Many people utilize keyword density to help them with search engine optimization which is another subject for another day.

Here is how to calculate the keyword's density on a web page. Let’s say your content is an article which contains 100 words (do not include any html code), your target keyword appears in the article 5 times. Simply divide the number of times the keyword appears (5) by the total number of words (100) to get an answer of .05. This would translate into 5%. To find the percentage simply multiply our answer (.05) by 100 which equals 5 or 5 percent.

The general consensus of an acceptable optimum keyword density is between 3 and 5 percent, in order for the search engines to recognize the keyword and know what the page is about. If you ever exceed 5 percent, keep in mind your page may get de-indexed and considered a spam site.

Also remember, this applies to all keywords on all web pages. Always ensure that each page of your site and its keyword or keywords stay within the optimum 3-5% and you site should be okay.

Easy Way to Check Word Counts on a Web Page

Highlight all of the content text on your web page and copy it, then paste it into a word processor such as Open Office or Microsoft Word and then look for the total word count. If not, some word processor's have a word count function up in the menu's. Now that you have the total word count, you can use the "find" feature from the upper menu and enter your keyword to find. After it finds the first one use "find next" and just keep count of how many keywords it finds. Now that you have a keyword total, use the formulas above to figure out the density percentage.

Organic SEO — What Does It Really Mean?

When people refer to “organic SEO” (search engine optimization), they almost always use it as a blanket term to describe the unpaid, algorithm-driven results of any particular engine. However, a sophisticated search engine optimization company will often take the meaning of “organic” one step further. To such companies, the description of “organic SEO” is not to limited what shows up in the “natural” search engine results – it includes the methodologies used to achieve such rankings. There’s more than one way to skin a cat (although I must admit that I don’t know the one way that everyone else presumably knows), and the same is true for achieving natural search engine results. A search engine optimization company usually falls into one of two camps. A “White Hat” search engine optimization company will use a largely content-based approach and will not violate the terms of service of the major search engines. A “Black Hat” search engine optimization company will use a largely technology driven approach and often ignore the terms of service. Neither approach is invalid (as I have said many times before, there is nothing illegal about violating a search engine’s terms of service), and both can achieve high rankings. But a search engine optimization company that takes the word “organic” literally believes that the “Black Hat” approach is anything but “organic SEO.” Merriam Webster defines organic, in part, as “having the characteristics of an organism: developing in the manner of a living plant or animal.” To a search engine optimization company, this definition accurately describes the approach taken to achieve long-lasting results in the “natural” section of search engines. Below are just a few comparisons of the different approaches taken by the two types of SEO firms. I refer to the two approaches as “organic SEO” and “artificial SEO” for the sake of clarity. Content vs. Technical Loopholes There’s an “old” saying in the SEO industry that “content is king.” This is not necessarily true. In my experience, good content is king. Study after study has shown that when people use search engines, they are primarily seeking one thing: information. They are not seeking to be impressed by fancy flash sites. They are not looking for a virtual piece of art. A search engine optimization company that is truly practicing “organic SEO” recognizes this fact and will refuse SEO work when prospects insist that content addition is not an option. “Artificial SEO” firms, which embrace a technical loophole philosophy, will allow a company to leave its website exactly as it is, because the work that such firms do is largely technical and is designed to trick the engine into showing content that it would not otherwise. 5 Free Traffic Generation Techniques

So you have built your website installed your Google Analytics code and now you are waiting for traffic but it never comes. 2. Writing Unique Articles For Other Web Sites

This great strategy is all to often overlooked. The objective here is to publish unique articles on other peoples blogs or websites with of course a backlink or two to your own site. The best way to do this is to write some good quality articles and get them published in ezinearticles.com. Then wait to see who reprints your article on their website or blog. If their blog has a good pagerank/traffic then get in touch with the website owner and offer to write some more unique content for them for free.

3. Off-Site Blog Posting

Find a few relevant blogs and start writing comments on them on a frequent. This will in itself produce valuable backlinks to your site. Remember to use your main keyword as your name when you submit comments. Make sure your comments add value and even provoke further comments. Then ask the blog owner if you can write a couple of guest posts for him. He will already know the quality of you writing from your previous contributions and is unlikely to turn down your request.

Blogs are really powerful tools with the search engines. So add one to your website and start posting good content every other day. If your blog is set up properly new content will be indexed quickly by the search engines.  Make sure that you only write with your keywords in mind. 5. Web 2.0 Sites

Use Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages and Wetpaint to generate off-site unique content which you can then use to provide great backlints to your main website.
