Google Authority and Backlinks

backlinks clinic

OK, this is a immersive subject and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my research at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – simplified

The more authority your site has the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that people trust you and your information. The good news is that authorities trusted by humans are also trusted by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These domains imply they are credible sources of information and it’s an established fact that in the eyes of Google backlinks from these domains to your web pages will send authority to your web pages. Another shining example is Wikipedia as the entries here are largely contributed to by tribes of people as opposed to a single person.

So it follows that authority is significantly influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative sites link to your site then you inherit their authority and in the eyes of Google you become more authoritative and hence the trust in your site by Google increases.

How Google determines what is and isn’t authoritative is undisclosed for good reason and aligns with Google’s thinking of “Do no evil”. The last thing the Internet needs is someone exploiting the mechanisms that Google untilzes in its efforts to try and bring some order to probably the most significant technological resource of this period in history.

Backlinking methods you should avoid

In the same vein it’s worth my while stating some obvious sources and methods of building backlinks that Google not only dislikes but appears to be moving aggressively to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the common examples are:

  • Paid backlinks – web pages where individuals purchase and sell backlinks
  • Comment spam – entries that have links on blog pages that are just not associated to the main theme.
  • Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
  • Rapid backlink growth – there are a myriad of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t stupid. Any sudden rise in the number of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, specifically if it’s a recently registered domain.
  • Backlinks from unscrupulous web pages – these are particularly nasty as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on dodgy ground, but reputable news portals appear to get a lot of authority and I have definitely discovered significant numbers of the same content over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as a portion of of the results I am seeing go against the consistent behaviors I normally expect to see. More on this is in a future post….

Internet Marketing Product reviewer intends to publish reviews on +600 products – Coming up ‘What your WordPress blog should do’

backlinks

BREAKING NEWS: Attention all WordPress Bloggers

About me

Until recently I tested Internet Marketing software and methods and published the results on a number of blogs. Every week I am overwhelmed with questions on my blog from people struggling with Internet marketing. I know a lot of people who are struggling at the moment and whilst I am making a modest income on the net from my work I am more and more doing what I can to assist others to avoid the mistakes, choose the right strategies and get off to a good start.

Sadly a big number of Internet Marketing content and tools I evaluate isn’t very good. Until recently the results of my reviews have been published on a limited number of websites whose owners have asked me to contribute in return for helping me with my evaluations.

Over Six hundred products tested

This represents just over six hundred ‘products’ that I have reviewed over a timescale of nearly five years, obviously a number of them are obsolete and I will only be including ‘products’ that are still available. I have tested all of the products I review and whilst in some cases I know the authors well this doesn’t divert me from telling what I really think about what works well and what doesn’t in each product.

Easy to use and organised index

To help you make the decisions that will work best for you I am going to organise the product summaries into a simple and easy to use directory and every product will be categorised by the level of  experience required, cost, effort and how soon you can expect to see results.

First Review – The ‘blueprint’ for WordPress blog success

I am going to start with WordPress Blogs and what systems you can use to make money from them. Everyone should have a blog and I am passionate about blogging as a major percentage of my income comes from blogs but and however I am fully aware that setting up a blog can be confusing so if you join my list I will show you step by step how to do this.

Create once and replicate

Blogs are cool in as much once you get a blog working properly and earning cash then you simply replicate it. I have a fundamental rule of ‘getting a rope across the river’ before commencing on any large amount of work so I always start with constructing a prototype that I develop into a blueprint that I can test, refine and copy, to do this you have to really understand what products and strategies you need to use.

No bullshit, just answers.

So if you have a WordPress blog or you want some practical and personal assistance with your choice of Internet Marketing products then please do join my list at www.backlinksclinic.com.

See you there

Links are primary while content is secondary.

You’ve probably heard the old phrase content is king you know?  My tests have shown this is B.S.

I realize this report isn’t exactly what you’ve heard before, however it is factual.  I will not tell you the names of sites.  I have to protect them as they are not mine.  But I will tell you why, based on facts that I have learned, one way links are more important than site content.

Here’s the deal I have recently started working for a new client because their pages couldn’t seem to get to the first page of Google so I took the challenge and went to work for them.

The first page I read made me wonder why it was even there.  The pages were ill-written, nasty and lacked clarity. It seems that some one who does not know  English has ventured it.  It is obvious that the work was not well written, unfortunately it is easy to tell that someone was using a content article spinning rewrite program to complete the task.

Due to poor keyword research by the previous SEO guy many of these pages were attempting to compete for very competitive keywords.

A 5 year old could do this good even with only a free article spinner he got in 2 minutes off of download com.

The internal site structure was mixed up, the internal links had errors like ‘home’ as anchor text, the sitemap was missing, and you don’t even want to know what was coming in from other sites.

What is the result then? If content was king, these pages cannot be on the first page of ANY search engine. Why speak of Google?  After doing my research, what were the results?

No matter whether they are from low quality websites, all had links to their domain.  So then I looked at their sites that couldn’t make it to the first page of Google and found the Same non-English content but NO LINKS.

After copying links from the other pages, it only took two weeks to get my clients’ website on the first page of a Google search results for every single site I did for them.

I wanted to get fast results so I could prove to them I could handle getting quality links of power so that their sites would remain showing up with first page rankings.

Naturally I got the SEO duties. I have also found the secret to SEO rankings with blog marketing and it’s LINKS after LINKS.

BACKLINKS GENERATE TRAFFIC

And getting a high position in the search engines requires 2 things: Good Content + Lots of Backlinks

IT TRULY IS A POPULARITY CONTEST

The person who generates the most votes on American Idol has an immediate show business career. And getting to the top of the search results is exactly the same thing. The public has to vote for you. And they will do that by setting up backlinks. Every person who visits your website and creates a notation to it on their website creates a backlink. And each backlink is a kind of substantiation.

It is estimated that more than 70% of the measures used by Google to determine what web sites rise to the top of their results is the quantity and quality of the back links. And that makes sense. If hundreds or thousands of web sites think you have rated a mention, then you must obviously be doing something right. That’s why Google depends upon the voting populace and will reward you by pushing your website to the top of the search results.

Bottom line: in order to do well, your site must to be validated by others. That said, without backlinks, you will not likely be seen.

LINK BUILDING CAMPAIGN

A campaign ought to be systematic and sustained. It is better to create 1,000 backlinks over 2 months than 2 days. Why? Because a great influx of backlinks doesn’t look natural for a common site. You won’t be penalized for having too many back links. In fact, MORE is always better than LESS, but if Goggle senses the popularity doesn’t look natural, the backlinks can carry less authority.

There are a few ways to create backlinks. Some are geared to quantity. Others to quality. At seo-back-links.com they have a resource entitled: 101 Backlink Ideas that provides an extensive list of suggestions on how to create back links. The unfortunate part is that most are very tedious and time consuming.

There are ways to make your task much easier. Visit seo-back-links.com where they have a number of campaigns that are intended to get you both quantity & quality backlinks easily and affordably.

From Social Bookmarking to Directory Submission and more. Start generating more traffic today at seo-back-links.com

How search engines see back links and what they do about them

backlinks

Before putting any effort whatsoever into creating any web pages you should have considered how you intend to get people to visit and ‘consume’ your content. It doesn’t matter what content you intend to put on your web pages there can only be one reason for a web pages existence and that is to get people to visit it. You need a significant proportion of your traffic to come from the search engines. The most economical and focused traffic is delivered by the search engines.

Search engines make their living from delivering relevant and useful results to their users. The precision of the results presented to the searchers are a key factor in maintaining search engine user loyalty. User loyalty directly translates to a stronger brand and higher revenues for the search engines. You and your web pages face a similar challenge.Position yourself in the mind of your users as a relevant source of information and make them visit over and over again.

So what exactly must you do?. You have two choices but there is nothing to stop you doing both if you have money and time. You can work hard to produce very good content and publish it on your web pages or you can advertise using methods such as Pay Per Click or Google Adwords.

Search engines see nothing but keywords or key phrases everything else on the Internet is invisible. Searches always begin with the entry of a keyword or phrase into the ‘search box’. The keyword entered by the user causes the search engine to search its indexes for the most accurate and relevant web pages. The search engines decision about what pages to display in the results are based upon two key factors relevance and authority.

Relevance is determined by the occurrence of keywords in the web page content and authority is largely derived from back links from other web pages. Search engines calculate the position of a web page in a returned list of results by measuring the authority and number of backlinks to each page.

Back links are the most important factor in optimising your pages for the search engines.

Back links play two important roles they direct traffic to your web site and factor in the search engines deciding the position of your web pages in the index of results. Back links that are appropriately named in web pages are more likely to be clicked on by users. This text in the back link is known as ‘anchor text’ and this too is taken into consideration by the search engines. Each back link has a value associated with it which can vary depending upon its origin.

The authority on the page from which a back links originates can influence the potency of the link to your web page.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .
