Social traffic through social media sites that drive visitors to sites/blogs and online stores are becoming quite popular. Before social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace were even created, many online marketers focused on paid traffic to ensure that they get a good number of people visiting their sites daily. There is really nothing wrong with paid traffic strategies. In fact, these strategies can be very effective. Thing is, they can be a bit expensive. If you want your paid campaign to have an impact in your business, you may have to spend hundreds of dollars a day.

Luckily with the social traffic solution, you can very well make use of free social media sites. It’s easy because all you need to do is spend some time participating in these websites. Create good quality materials so you can make use and maximize your traffic-enhancing strategies. It is important to note that simply having a profile in Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other types of social media sites does not guarantee an increase in your Web traffic. You need to know how to make your profile attractive to the people who matter, the ones that belong to your target market.

Another advantge of social traffic over paid traffic is the influence you can gain through social media sites. As an influencer, you can affect people’s decisions on what to buy or what service to get. In order for your paid traffic to make a purchase from your site, you need to be able to infuence them to get it through huge discounts and a lot of other freebies. But with web traffic coming from social media sites, people learn about you through viral marketing or word of mouth. This means that Web users who go to your site are already partially convinced that your product or service is good because someone from their social media network recommended you.

Of course paid traffic solutions are guaranteed to get people to your site, 100%. However, this marketing campaign is only good if you have money to pay. Once you no longer have budget for PPC or banner ads, your traffic may also dwindle. The effect of social traffic is a bit different. You may put a whole lot of effort in today’s traffic but you may reap what you’ve sown in the weeks or months to come: remember that this may work overnight, but not all the time. As long as you have your profile in social media sites and you continue to participate in such communities, you will experience an increase in your Web traffic.

working for weeks and still feel unclear about Search Engine Optimization (there ya go, that’s what SEO is!) this is a must read for you.  This article will explore SEO,  how you can apply it effectively, and what you need to do to be sure you don’t get penalized.

(Before I dive right in, Goole Conquest Authority is a training program that will go over SEO in full detail, but for now, you can start off here.)

As I said above, SEO stands for search engine optimization. The number one question new internet marketers wonder is what is a search engine? I know this is extremely basic, but this is where you need to start.  Once you learn the very basics, when you begin to explore more on the topic of SEO, you will have a full understanding of exactly what it is.

A search engine is a website you go to when you are searching for a particular subject on the internet. In example, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc. Those sites are all search engines. When you are trying to find an answer on the internet, you visit a search engine, type in the information you are looking for, and presto! The search engine “searches” the internet for you and brings up a list of all the sites online that are relevant to your search.

Now you know what a search engine is, and you know what SEO is, let me get into the meat of things and explain how SEO works.

The number one thing you should do before any optimization, is you must determine the targeted keywords you will use for your site. To be more specific, finding the search phrases you want your site to rank for with the search engines. An example of this would be:

Let’s say you have a website loaded with fixing computers. People who are looking for information on fixing their computers might search for these keywords: what’s wrong with my computer, why does my computer have a blue screen, or my computer is broken. These would all be considered long tail keywords, and those are what you would want to shoot for, because they are the keyphrases that people search the search engines for.

Be aware when picking your keywords or key phrases, they are actual phrases that get searched for, if not, you won’t get any traffic to your site. (Another tip is to be sure you pick keywords that don’t have too many websites targeting them. You might not still get visitors if there is too much competition.) I recommend using a keyword research tool to find some hidden ones. You can use Google’s free keyword tool, or Wordtracker’s free tool if money is tight. They are great starter tools, and they do the job just fine. Once you start making some money, I do recommend you get a paid tool because they are so much more effective, and you can really find some good keywords.

Okay, so now that you know what keywords you will use, the next step is to be sure your site is optimized for those keywords. How is this done? It’s really simple, actually.

The most important rule is always title your page or post with your keywords. This will be known as your title tag. Title tags have a very big influence on the search engines when they crawl your site, so whatever your title is, the search engines will assume it is a keyword and you are trying to rank for it. This goes for your domain name as well. Your page/post title and your website title (domain name) are extremely large factors in the SEO world.

Once you have bought your domain (known as the URL), and you have chosen your targeted key phrases or words, the next phase is to add content to your website or blog. Write an article that is at least 400-500 words, and make sure you include your targeted keywords or phrases at least 2-3 times in the content. Do NOT go overboard with this, or you may get penalized. Be sure the keyword density is not over 7% (amount of keywords vs. actual words on page). Staying below 6-7% is much better. If you go over this recommended safety net, the search engines may see you as “keyword stuffing”. Keyword stuffing means using your keywords over and over again, and your website will pay for it if you do that, I promise.

The more content you have on your page, the better chance you have of being able to get all your keywords in and not make it look like you are keyword stuffing. In other words, keep your posts and pages long, and you can put all your keywords in. Search engines like long text articles and unique content.

Do not fret about getting every keyword phrase in your article multiple times, because the search engines are smart, and if you have a quality site, Google will rank you for keywords you never even tried to rank for. The most important goal is getting your main phrase in 2-3 times, and the others at least once.

That’s SEO in a nutshell. Learn as much as you can about the matter, because it truly will benefit you in the end.  To learn SEO takes some patience, but you will be a pro in no time.

I am certain that almost all of the folks that have a domain are looking into routes to help them to draw in more folks to read their site. There are some differing perspectives on the sole way to go about doing this but one thing that the public agree on is that it’s important to build up the number of backward links that point to your site. The difficulty is how will we get these links?  It is always best to try to get other sites from the same industry as your own to add a link to your internet site on their site ( on the homepage if at all probable ). I have, during the past, spent hours phoning and e-mailing the webmasters from different sites which are in an analogous field to my private site. Even if just one person agreed to my request after phoning up 30 folk, I was chuffed. Hopefully this link will be permanent and over time could prove very valuable to me. Folks  who visit this people site are now potential visitors to my private site as they may see my link and naturally hopefully will click it. Occasionally  the more links I’m in a position to get the better, and in time I may well see a rise in my internet sites page rank.

This in turn should move me up some places in the search engines for my keywords, which naturally should then result in more traffic. This is the price of any backward link.

If the page where my link has been added is a high traffic page or has a high page rank worth then  I am  even more fortunate. As an example the link would be of far larger price to my site if it was placed on a page with a page rank five rather than a page with a page rank 2. How many backward links should I be making an attempt to obtain?  In my humble opinion you want to use caution not to build up the amount of these backward links too fast.

It should be a continual project across the life of the site. If as an example you are able to get ten every week for five years, this would be amazing. This will quite simply raise a red flag with the search engines. There is no simple solution, tough work pays off and we want to have patience. I look to the long run and believe in time the work I put in today will be of great benefit to me tomorrow.

Alternative routes of getting links is by : making articles purchasing a text link ad Out of these two options I like the making articles option. As I have stated however, troublesome work pays off and this is a straightforward way of gaining one-way backward links.
