Search engine technology has advanced over the years.Once upon a time, all you needed was a website and some meta tags to rank well.  Now as the search engines and the search engine spammers race against each other to stay ahead, technology has advanced significantly.

And as a website owner and Internet Marketer you want your site to have a very high ranking, and so you need as many backlinks as you can get.

The first way is to join a link exchange program. These can help you to get a lot of links quickly, but they mainly tend to come from junk and spam sites.  Some search engines will penalise you for links to these sort of sites, which is something you want to avoid.

You also want to avoid your links being on link farms – if there are too many external links on a single site then you may again get penalised by the search engines.These link exchanges can often contain link farms.

You can also find other relevant sites and manually create links to them.This is a very painstaking approach and will take some time.

You want as many backlinks as you can get because they are so very important to your website.You need to know a trick or two in order for these to be really effective.

When you are exchanging links or writing articles, you are in control of the text that is your link.A lot of marketers will write just about anything and post in on their website.

Sure, you get a backlink, but you don't get the full benefit of it.  It’s like buying a Ferrari and then driving everywhere at twenty miles per hour.

In order to really benefit from backlinks you need to use anchor text.  This is where you have certain words which are a hyperlink to your website.  The words you use are your keywords. 

For example, if your keywords were “Dancing Elephants” the usual link would be “Visit Michael Angelo’s site on dancing elephants at dancingelephants dot com.”

In order to really enhance your listing and boost the relevance of your site massively in the search engines, you need to make the “dancing elephants” reference a link to your website too.  Your text then contains two links to your website – one being the website address and the other the keywords.  Because the keywords and linking directly to your sites the search engines love it because they think your site must be more relevant to those keywords due to the link.

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR BLOG

WordPress has been designed from the ground up with SEO in mind, making it a firm favorite with the search engines.  Being so much easier to maintain and update than traditional HTML pages, it allows you to rapidly make site wide changes to your SEO strategy in order to maximize your rankings in the search engines.

When you update your blog, some of the more powerful plugins can instantly notify the search engines of your updates. This will send the search engine spiders swarning to your website.

With a little bit of work you can quickly and easily set up your WordPress blog and optimize it for the search engines.There are thousands of free plugins to help your search engine rankings.Add in some off page SEO and you can be flying up the search engine rankings.

You may struggle to beat your competition in the rankings if you haven't done your on page search engine optimization.If you plan out and optimize your WordPress blog then there is no reason for you not to reach the top of the search engines.
