Quick Search Engine Optimization Tips To Get Your Site Indexed

SEM Services

The Internet is the biggest place that you can go to buy or sell anything. There are always people looking to make a purchase so it makes sense that if you have a business you should strategize to market to them. There is an almost constant supply of people who are ready to buy what you have to offer. The trick is getting them to notice you.

Search engine optimization, known as SEO, is a way to generate more visitors to your online site. People perform online searches to locate goods and services that they are interested in. The key to increase in sales is to try to get your website to show up as high as you can in the rankings that are done by the search engines.

There is interesting studies done that prove that most visitors to websites don’t make a purchase on their first time visiting your site. It is important to get as many people to your website as possible. You can do this by increasing your site on the search engine results by using search engine optimization. One key strategy to use to keep people returning to your site is to provide visitors with lots of free information that they can use.

One way to help drive your website up higher in the searching lists is by using search engine optimization. Search engines use special software that reaches out and locates the keywords and Meta tags from websites all around the Internet. They take this information and based on the keywords will rank the sites. These rankings are how the results will be given to people who enter those words during a search.

Meta tags are the small synopsis that is provided for each of your web pages. These Meta tags are important for SEM. Pay close attention to what your Meta tags are saying, they are very important. Be certain that they use keywords and phrases that properly describes your site. Keywords are the words that people enter into a search box when they look for information online.

The keywords are important because this is how you will be ranked. Most people never look beyond the first couple of pages of returned results of an online search. This means that you must get your site in the top three ranking pages in order to be successful at search engine optimization and drive business to your site. The most important page of your site is your home page also sometimes called your “landing page”.

The importance of using the right keywords cannot be overstressed. Ultimately you will drive business to your site if you use keywords in search engine optimization in the best way. This means that you need to understand the search terms that your target customers will be using. It is important to visualize ordinary people’s perspective over your online business or product. Be sure to include any common spelling mistakes. For instance if you have a pets site you should include specific animal terms as well as general pets terms in your keywords.

After you know the way search engine optimization is done you will be able to decide on the right marketing strategy for your site. Be sure to choose keywords that are important to your business. Then, these keywords can be used in your web page Meta tags and also in the site’s main page content. You will find that by paying attention to search engine optimization you can vastly improve the results of searches and add more sales to your business.

Understanding The 4 Basic SEO Elements

There are so many elements possible for you to optimize that you may not know where to start.

Search Engine Optimization can be incredibly complicated, as well as exceptionally uncomplicated; it all depends on what you focus on. Just like everything else in marketing, when it comes to SEO, you have what works the best, what is important, what is not so important, what doesn’t really matters, and what is useless.

Obviously, you should spend most of your time on what works and is essential, so today I have decided to highlight what I consider the 4 most important elements of Google SEO.

On Page SEO Elements

On-page SEO is where it all starts, that is with your own site. There are just so many tweaks and tricks you can apply to improve your on-page SEO, but out of all those, I only found out 2 elements that really makes a difference in your general SEO work:

  • Your Page Title.
  • Your Content.

Keyword in Title

Having your keyword in your page title is really important.

I comprehend some of you may perhaps disagree that you have seen a first ranking site without their keyword in the page title, etc…, yes you will always be able to find some exceptions to any rule if you really want to, but that’s not the point.

You are obliged to include the keyword you want to rank for in your webpage title.

At this point, having it in your page title doesn’t suggest that you have to spam your keywords all over either! For a good measure, judge against the top ranking pages, how often they use their keyword, this will hint you a reasonably good basic clue.

Keywords in content

Ok, when I talk about content, the golden rule is to write quality content; that is content that your readers will enjoy reading.

In all the search engines guidelines, you’ll see that it is recommended to write for your readers, and not the search engines!

That said, having your key keyword, and some additional associated terms here and there indubitably never hurt anybody.

That doesn’t imply you have to fill your content with keywords, it’s truly a waste of time, and in addition it possibly will harm you by getting you penalized for over-optimization.

Off-Page SEO Elements

If SEO starts on-page to get you indexed, there’s no doubt that it is your off-page SEO work that will get you ranked where you want to be in the search engines.

Among all the factors to take into consideration, the following 2 are critical to your success online:

  • Your site Link Popularity.
  • Anchor Text Of Your Inbound Links.

Link Popularity of your site

On internet, the popularity of a site is measure by how many pages, and preferably domains link towards your site or page.

Just imagine every one of thoseinbound links as a “vote”. In basic Google SEO help, the more votes a page has, the more popular it becomes, and thus the higher it should rank for the search engines.

Therefore your evident effort must focus on building quality inbound link in order to grow your link popularity.

And yes, the more respected a webpage or website linking to you is, the more you gain from it; equally, if the authority level of that webpage is very low or none, so will be the value of this “vote”.

Anchor text of the inbound links

The second key element of your off-page optimization is the anchor text of your inbound links.

The amount of inbound links do strengthen your popularity rank, however it is the anchor text used in those links that will notify the search engines what your website is popular for!

Let me say that again:

“The anchor texts of your backlinks tell the search engines what your site is popular for!”

So if you guess it right, your keyword should be there too.

Now, you want to keep things natural, so it’s important to vary your anchor texts, but as far as possible, offer your keyword or variation of it in the anchor text of the inbound links towards your site.

In Conclusion

There are just so many points to cover and learn about when it comes to SEO, and don’t worry, I’ll cover them all in my different free SEO training courses, but for those of you who are getting started or those of you who are getting confused at which element they should mainly focus on, this is the 4 elements of SEO that I consider essentials and will account for 80% of your search engine ranking position.

Pay attention on what works to start with, and sort out the rest later when you have time and opportunity!

Discovering SEO

Leaving university just in time to catch the credit crunch in full swing, I can honestly say I never thought I’d find a job that would combine the skills I’d learnt with actually doing something useful and even getting to use a bit of creativity too. I thought I’d probably end up stuck in a shop or a call centre like so many graduates before me, waiting for the opportunity that we all know never comes. I’d trained as a journalist but I knew I didn’t stand a chance of finding employment as one – it’s hard enough to find that sort of work even at the best of times and I’m just not pushy enough!

I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that my degree had been a waste of time and money and that I should probably phone the call centre where I’d worked before I went to uni, when someone suggested I should think about looking into SEO and internet marketing. I thought it all sounded a bit technical for me, but I was quickly offered a three month placement with a local internet marketing company so I thought, what do I have to lose.

I’ll be honest, I hadn’t thought about SEO as a job possibility, I’d never even heard of it before and had no idea that there were people out there spending their days trying to better people’s websites by thinking up new ways to manipulate online resources, but two and a half months in to my SEO training I’m really enjoying it. There’s a lot of very hard work involved and yes, at times it feels a bit like you’re banging your head against a brick wall. But seeing the site you’ve spent so much time working on climbing up the list on Google is its own reward. I’ve learnt a lot in the last three months and I’m glad I didn’t make that call to the call centre!

Your business could need SEO to survive the credit crunch

If your business is one of the hundreds that are struggling in the recession, there’s probably no way you’d consider spending money employing people to sort out your website for you. You might think with things the way they are there are surely much more pressing things to be spending your cash on – you need to keep your business afloat and it’s tough enough to keep going, let alone expanding online as well. It’s a logical thought but in fact ignoring the potential of the online market completely could be one of the worst decisions a business owner could make right now. In fact, almost all the businesses that are still thriving in spite of the recession are succeeding because of their strong online presence, and are bringing in new customers through Google. Remember, times may be hard for businesses but things are also tough for consumers, and an increasing number of people are turning to the internet rather than the high street for the best deals on all kinds of products.

It can be difficult to get your head around the minefield that is Google and internet marketing, but with the right approach and a bit of expert SEO, anyone can improve their site and see a huge improvement in the number of people visiting, using and buying their products. With so many websites offering competitive discounts and deals on all types of product online, it’s the ones who fail to take advantage of the internet who will suffer most. Think about it, of the huge brands that have failed over the last few months – Woolworths, Zavvi, MFI – all had limited online resources and little to offer compared to their main online competitors.

Internet Marketing and SEO is an area that has barely been affected by the recession. The ability to manipulate online resources and maximise a website’s potential is more in demand than ever and even in the job market there are still plenty of vacancies for SEO training and internet marketing. Clearly more people are beginning to see that it is quite possibly the only way to beat the credit crunch and stay ahead of the competition.
