Here is how to calculate the keyword's density on a web page. Let’s say your content is an article which contains 100 words (do not include any html code), your target keyword appears in the article 5 times. Simply divide the number of times the keyword appears (5) by the total number of words (100) to get an answer of .05. This would translate into 5%. To find the percentage simply multiply our answer (.05) by 100 which equals 5 or 5 percent.

The general consensus of an acceptable optimum keyword density is between 3 and 5 percent, in order for the search engines to recognize the keyword and know what the page is about. If you ever exceed 5 percent, keep in mind your page may get de-indexed and considered a spam site.

Also remember, this applies to all keywords on all web pages. Always ensure that each page of your site and its keyword or keywords stay within the optimum 3-5% and you site should be okay.

Easy Way to Check Word Counts on a Web Page

Highlight all of the content text on your web page and copy it, then paste it into a word processor such as Open Office or Microsoft Word and then look for the total word count. If not, some word processor's have a word count function up in the menu's. Now that you have the total word count, you can use the "find" feature from the upper menu and enter your keyword to find. After it finds the first one use "find next" and just keep count of how many keywords it finds. Now that you have a keyword total, use the formulas above to figure out the density percentage.

OK, this is a immersive subject and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my research at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – simplified

The more authority your site has the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that people trust you and your information. The good news is that authorities trusted by humans are also trusted by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These domains imply they are credible sources of information and it’s an established fact that in the eyes of Google backlinks from these domains to your web pages will send authority to your web pages. Another shining example is Wikipedia as the entries here are largely contributed to by tribes of people as opposed to a single person.

So it follows that authority is significantly influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative sites link to your site then you inherit their authority and in the eyes of Google you become more authoritative and hence the trust in your site by Google increases.

The last thing the Internet needs is someone exploiting the mechanisms that Google untilzes in its efforts to try and bring some order to probably the most significant technological resource of this period in history.

Backlinking methods you should avoid

In the same vein it’s worth my while stating some obvious sources and methods of building backlinks that Google not only dislikes but appears to be moving aggressively to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the common examples are:

• Paid backlinks – web pages where individuals purchase and sell backlinks
• Comment spam – entries that have links on blog pages that are just not associated to the main theme.
• Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
• Rapid backlink growth – there are a myriad of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t stupid. Any sudden rise in the number of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, specifically if it’s a recently registered domain.
• Backlinks from unscrupulous web pages – these are particularly nasty as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on dodgy ground, but reputable news portals appear to get a lot of authority and I have definitely discovered significant numbers of the same content over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as a portion of of the results I am seeing go against the consistent behaviors I normally expect to see. Blogs are cool in as much once you get a blog working properly and earning cash then you simply replicate it. I realize this report isn’t exactly what you’ve heard before, however it is factual.  I will not tell you the names of sites.  I have to protect them as they are not mine.  But I will tell you why, based on facts that I have learned, one way links are more important than site content.

Here’s the deal I have recently started working for a new client because their pages couldn’t seem to get to the first page of Google so I took the challenge and went to work for them.

The first page I read made me wonder why it was even there.  The pages were ill-written, nasty and lacked clarity. It seems that some one who does not know  English has ventured it.  It is obvious that the work was not well written, unfortunately it is easy to tell that someone was using a content article spinning rewrite program to complete the task.

Due to poor keyword research by the previous SEO guy many of these pages were attempting to compete for very competitive keywords.

A 5 year old could do this good even with only a free article spinner he got in 2 minutes off of download com.

The internal site structure was mixed up, the internal links had errors like ‘home’ as anchor text, the sitemap was missing, and you don’t even want to know what was coming in from other sites.

What is the result then? If content was king, these pages cannot be on the first page of ANY search engine. Why speak of Google?  After doing my research, what were the results?

No matter whether they are from low quality websites, all had links to their domain.  So then I looked at their sites that couldn’t make it to the first page of Google and found the Same non-English content but NO LINKS.

After copying links from the other pages, it only took two weeks to get my clients’ website on the first page of a Google search results for every single site I did for them.

I wanted to get fast results so I could prove to them I could handle getting quality links of power so that their sites would remain showing up with first page rankings.

Write the original page name and description of each page. Do not copy and paste all the pages of the same label, as you said is basically a search engine if you do is’ my site every page is the same thing ‘.

Add a sentence of targeted keywords to your site navigation links. Rather than ‘click here’ you could use ‘click here for for Affordable SEO Services. Search Engine Optimization is a long and sometimes laborious task but if you get the groundwork right from the start then it’s easy to build on. 1. Ensure you write so the reader understands 
-This is one of the largest mistakes by a lot of SEO site creators. They forget about the human visitor factor. If your internet site is too tough to read or follow they won’t even click it. In knowing this you must make sure your SEO site is user friendly as well as easy-to-read. Placing it simply you need to make your SEO site like you used to be a visitor who is visiting your internet site for the first time.  

2. Make sure your code is clean 
-Your code should be well organized, and well formatted. The better your code looks to you the better your SEO site will appear to the visitor.  

3. Photographs 
-When you use photographs to support your main message this can capture the readers eye and will also catch their attention as a consequence. You need to be certain that you use pictures carefully. -These headers should contain your keywords as well as your company name. The header is what the web crawlers attach themselves to first so you need to be terribly careful with this step. You need to take very careful consideration before even attempting your heading.  

6. Keywords 
-Keywords seem easy but it is one of the commonest neglected and misused sides of making an SEO site. You need to think about 3-4 keywords to put in your website in several different places. But don’t go too far otherwise you may be found at fault for a black hat SEO. This SEO is unethical and can get you excluded from search engines.  

7. Length 
-Limit your SEO to not more than 250 words. This could be enough to get your message across without going over border. When doing this though don’t neglect those keywords.  

8. Your paragraphs 
-Keep your paragraphs brief. Also make them easy-to-read. Try putting an additional space between each line to avoid crowding.  

9. Be sure to proofread 
-Proofreading is of upmost significance. Even a tiny tiny blunder can make your company look bad.
