List Building – How to Get Other Newsletter Publishers to Mention You Constantly

Building a list of members or newsletter subscribers is one of the most important things any webmaster should do.

Now if you’re asking why, the answer is simple: Getting other publishers and websites to mention you, your site and your products constantly is a surefire way to get free subscribers, thus increasing web traffic into your site as well. This will then build a relationship with their own subscribers and when they join your newsletter they will already know a lot about you and be looking forward to receiving your emails.

Because your site or the product you are promoting has been recommended by someone else that has already provided them with information they want the trust will already be in place..

Now, here’s the question. How do you get other publishers to mention you in their newsletters? Is it thru a good webpage website design? Not exactly. Do something news worthy! Hold a contest, claim to know something no one else does, tell publishers a little tip that you learn and that they are free to tell their subscribers as well.

Building a relationship with other publishers is one of the best ways to get a mention or referral especially if you are offering them something that will be beneficial to them and their subscribers..

Another great way to get publishers to mention you is to send them articles, great articles or even an e-book filled with those articles. Tell the publisher they can send your articles to all their subscribers for free and include an author box that leads to your sign up page.

Build relationships with these publishers and become their friends!

It is also advisable to tell people who are already subscribed to your newsletter that they can pass the newsletter or e-book on to friends and also use parts or all of your newsletter in articles that they can then submit to various article marketing sites

Just make sure that as long as you are mentioned in the author box you will of course get credit and a link back to your site. This is sort of like article writing, just with your newsletter issue in replace of your article.

If you are providing good solid information in your newsletter or e-book, what ever the topic, you will want to target different people. Because according to top seo services, offering your information as something which can be passed onto others for free is a great way to get other website owners and marketers to mention you all the time.

It is also important to remember one of the biggest problems I see when people write articles or e-books is that they write about subjects no one in their market is interested in.. They just write about whatever they think people want to know about without checking for any information and doing research which is a huge no no.

One more problem is, publishers who have a market well defined don’t then write the content in their newsletters that interests their readers.. There is no use having an article on coin collecting and running a business about stamp collecting.

This is a problem that should be easy to overcome. Just send out an email asking your readers what they want to read. Also sign up for other newsletters in your market to check what they are writing about.

33 of the Best List Building Tips + Secrets

I think list building is the most important strategy you can follow when Internet Marketing..

The reason is fairly simple; when you have a visitor to your web-site, you have just one opportunity for that visitor to take a desired action (i.e. bookmark, opt in, sign up, recommend, inquire, purchase etc.). However, if that visitor signs up to your list, then you have many more opportunities to encourage that visitor to take a desired action..

For example, when visitors sign up for my 366 FREE Internet Marketing Tips AND Secrets I have 366 chances to build trust, my reputation and all good things like that. I also have the same number, which is 366, of chances to get that person to do what I want them to (because I send them a tip or secret every single day). Now, they may not do what I want them to do. They might not recommend my site maybe because of other matters like professional website design and anything else. They may just take the tips and ‘run’. That’s fine too. Because I know that SOME of the people on the list will do what I want them to. It’s just human nature.. It’s called reciprocity. It’s what most religions are based on. Do unto others as you want done to yourself, so that’s number one on my list:

1. Give away a LOT. You will get it back (in one shape or form).

2. Add multiple opt-in forms to all your web pages, giving people plenty of opportunity to sign-up  I make no apology for the fly in you get when you enter, nor the exit pop up either. I want you to sign up!!

3. Give away a valuable gift. In my case, I give away over 100 free gifts, worth nearly $3,000!!

4. Make your content relevant and keep your subscribers happy. Go over the top. Like I say, give away a LOT.

5. Use drop-down boxes or pop-ups.. It’s a fine line and I know I go over the top, but pop up, drop down, fly in, test them out and see which works best.

6. Use squeeze pages. In other words, a page where the visitor has little option other than to sign up. Of course, you need to give them the DESIRE to want to sign up with you, and that’s where the ‘squeeze’comes in.

7. Publish articles and submit them everywhere. Point your author resource box at your squeeze page. More on Article Marketing here

8. Write a review page, publish that on other blogs, again, leading to your squeeze page.

9. Try recording audios and publish podcasts.

10. Use forum postings

11. Use a good tell a friend script

12. Start your own forum.

13. Invest in Pay Per Click advertising such as Adwords or Yahoo

14. Write testinonials for other people for your website to gain publicity. Most seo services agree to this strategy.

15. Publish a viral e-book with links to your squeeze page embedded.

16. Be friendly and swap ads with other publishers. This can be as simple as ‘you show mine, I’ll show yours’ all the way through to a genuine joint venture.

17. Run a contest to create buzz.

18. Create a membership site only for subscribers

19. Create another opt-in form on someone’s thank you page

20. Publish a Press Release

21. Purchase ezine solo ads or classified ads in ezines.

22. Try submitting to ezine directories.

23. It would also be best if you can create a giveaway application or plug-in.

24. Use Top Sponsors’ Ads in ezines

25. Give your business card away to everyone you meet.

26. Create your own Affiliate program for your own product

27. Add URL links to your email signatures.

28. Always check to see if your newsletter is kept away from the spam lists.

29. Create a 5 day e-course for new subscribers.

30. Purchase subscribers (going rate around 30c per subscriber)

31. Copy from the best. Sign up for newsletters. Carefully take note of the different tactics used, from the sign up (was it fly in, pop up, inline etc.?), what type of page was the landing page from the opt in form? After you confirmed your e-mail address? What incentive was used to encourage you to sign up? What was the content like? Copy the best ideas!! What did you like? What didn’t you like? I’m sure you get the idea…

32. Try using List Hero.

33. Use Automated List Builder..

There you go. 33 great tips and secrets to get your list building on it’s way.. If you would like to add a list building tip or secret not listed here, please comment below. Thanks, Allen.

Basic List Building

Building a valuable list of subscribers is something every webmaster wants to achieve.. This article will give you some excellent ideas on how to build your list using surprisingly easy methods.

1 – Add more subscriber boxes to your website. Sounds very simple enough but only a few people do it. If you have a 100 page website, you should have 100 newsletter subscribe boxes on your website.

You can integrate a subscribe box just about anywhere in a website. You could add one just before an article starts, in the middle of an article or even at the end of the article, as seo services agree this is one way of also increasing web traffic for your site

As long as you have good content on your website, you won’t have a problem getting people to subscribe to your newsletter.

- Offer an outstanding bonus or gift. I have had a problem in the past with offering freebies to get people to subscribe to your newsletter, but I also know it can work well, if done properly..

Why do I have a problem with it? Well I really want subscribers to be signing up for my newsletter because they want my newsletter not because they want the freebie I am offering.

The best way to offer a freebie is to create one yourself and not something you have reprint rights to with 500 other people. You want it to be both unique and something that plugs your newsletter heavily.

Do you know what makes a good bonus? Back issues of your newsletter!.

- Use a sales letter to get subscribers, This is a new trend that I have seen and it is growing fast lately. People using direct sales letters to get new subscribers for their newsletter. They are actually creating a sales letter like they would for a product they are selling, and at the end of it, instead of an order button, they have a subscribe here button..

You’ll never know by reading these sales letter that it is not for a product at all.

This gives people the WOW factor.. You make your newsletter sound so valuable that when they find out it’s free, they go “WOW, I can’t believe they are giving all this information away for free”.

This is pure marketing at it’s best, and it’s exciting.. Marketing is meant to be exciting, just like life.

- Use a well paid for and well known autoresponder, I can’t stress this enough. Do not use free Autoresponders or mailing lists!. These services can go down at anytime and are not professional looking at all.

Plus they also get used for spamming and are abused badly..

Once your list has begun to grow do not forget to keep sending those subscribers valuable information that will be of use to them. Make them feel that they are welcome to pass the information onto others, or better still get their friends to subscribe also.
